After my return from France (which was a great trip overall, I will be uploading some pictures soon for that), I went to the library yesterday and picked up some books on and by Jane Austen. The wit and intelligence of such reading outweighs its romantic character. Oh well, no need to quibble. Enjoy the pics, and hopefully my life will present something worth uploading soon...

Waiting For Yet Another Hurricane To Come...
Okay, this is getting really old. The last thing I need right now is to have my last weekend before the Feast of Tabernacles ruined by another hurricane (this one Jeanne). It's been a long time since *four* hurricanes hit Florida the same year. Nonetheless, the constant stream of hurricanes seems to reflect what is shaping up to be a lousy end of 2004. Before choosing the hurricane theme, I was thinking of entitling this post..."Waiting For Disfellowshippment," or something equally dismal. Given the recent conversations on the forum and the way they have progressed, I have to face the facts that life could be much more complicated very soon. I wouldn't have it any other way, though. At least the Feast is coming. That's something to cheer me up.

Waiting for another hurricane to come...
Today I took my first quiz in Concrete Engineering (that went well, I think...). After that I wrote the introduction to my Christian Maturity paper. Then I went off to look for work (still no luck on that front). I did some playwriting as well, which was nice (I'm only two scenes short of finishing "Unless The Lord Shall Build A House."). What made today rather ominous though was the fact that recent changes in the track of Hurricane Frances have it bearing down right north of Tampa. This is obviously not good. We'll see if the path diverts at the last minute or if we fail to dodge the bullet this time. If the latter is the case, this could be my last entry for a long, long time...

This is what wandering around in the library gets you...
Today was a good day. At least I didn't get rained on like Monday. That said, I ended up with ten books on Christian ethics and/or Aristle's view on ethics (although, alas, I did not find a copy of the Nicomachean Ethics). However, after lugging those to my car I went to my Urban Geography class. However, my scholarly and erudite answering of questions earned me the hypocoristicon "Poindexter" from my professor, who then said that I would end up "institutionalized" in a university and that he can see the future. I gave a little chuckle, but the rest of the class laughed a lot louder. Anyway, my academic nature has once again betrayed me...

Welcome to my blog...
I'm not much of a blogger (I keep a paper and pen journal that has a little more detail), but I want to post on my friend's blogs and so here it is. Today is August 31, 2004, the last day of gas tax rebates in the State of Florida. I took advantage of this, after my Concrete Design class and going job hunting, to fill up the little red car I have been driving. I'm still looking for work, but perhaps other days will have more interesting reports. Until then, fare thee well...
